I was under the impression that SLS said that this occurs for a few seconds when he starts it. It idle's rough, the needle dips once, and then the idle straighten's out a few seconds later. Is that correct? And only when cold?

Only when cold, i.e. cold ambient temp (less than 40 deg F) and engine has been sitting for over 8 hours.
I key it on. It settles at 1,100 RPM or so for a few seconds. RPMs then dip to 500 or so, threatening a stall. The ECU gives it gas. RPMs up to 2,000 for upwards of 20 to 30 seconds. Then it settles around 1,000 and I am good to go.
