As for 5 bolt there is a retarded # of them. Now GM could have gone with a 5x100 which would have been nice but I think it had to do with structural integrity for a 5 bolt 18" wheel that would match with other essential GM components that made up the cobalt and that 5x110 is very common for GM (Europe).
