Bingo...The inlet for the stock intake is damn near in the same location as the K&N CAI. The difference in the two is that with the K&N echo the whine is a lot loader because it is metal. So if whine is what you are after, then the K&N is way to go. If you want a bit more airflow then just drop in a high flow filter in the stock airbox...

It's actually in the exact same location. However, the stock intake seems to taper at the end, where the K&N is a constant diameter... I might be wrong though, I haven't looked at the stock intake in a while...
