Ok now with your problem:
You have an 04 which was not the gold year for the RL, as it was its first year, I get the service vehicle thing every once and a while but I just ignore it as I do not believe they have a fix for it. The moonroof situation however is weird. You should just have to push back to go up and push foward to close, when you dont push either front or back the switch will stay in the middle. So yes it has 3 positions but with 1 being close, 2 being open and 3 being do nothing. The car is a blast to drive as you may have already known and it has its little quirks here and there but I have an 04 and its been nothing but a blast for me and has given me no problems I can think of that I havent induced on myself
