Okay, I re-reread Vandy's post. Are you talking about putting the turbo in the trunk?? Bad idea, here's why:
The secret of a turbo's surperior efficiency is that they use energy from very hot rapidly expanding exhaust gases to power the turbine. Not just force from the exhaust pressure, but heat that otherwise gets wasted. The closer you get the turbo to the exhast ports, the better (if the turbine wheel can take it) although some space is need for the cylinder exhausts to merge. Like the end of a header..
The reason the Vette had it is well, have you ever looked under the hood of a c5? A Ls-2 tightly wrapped in fiberglass...
