Isn't each click a 100rpms, not 500? As when I changed my settings [3000 (gas mileage shift..plus I like seeing the light come on in everyday traffic), 5500, 6400ish] it seemed to only move 100rpms at a time.
And an easy way to calibrate it, find a long straightER stretch of highway and stay in 2nd for the top two lights and shift to 3rd/4th for the bottom one...use cruise control to keep it steady while you turn the knobs.
