Actually, coilovers "in and of themselves" don't put you into ST. We discussed this a while back with my friend's Porsche 914. You cannot relocate the springs in Stock. This is OK, as our springs are already "over" the shocks. You may provide an alternate mounting surface for the springs, as long as it is in the same location as stock.

This means that you can do a coilover up front (not the rear) as long as you don't change the location of the upper and lower spring perches.

Now, whether this holds any real-world solutions for us is another story. I don't know what dimensions any of the coilover kits have.
