Installing aftermarket radio

I went through and did a search and didnt find the answer I was looking for so heres my post! I am looking to put a single din radio in my car. I went to Best Buy yesterday to get all the stuff and the guy told me i need some $120 wire harness to run the new deck? He said its got something to do with the stereo being wired through the computer. Is this guy full of shit or can I just buy the normal in between harness for $20 and have it work ok? Also, do I need an antenna adapter or will it just plug in to the new radio? Its a Pioneer if that helps. Thanks!
Adam

The guy at Best Buy is an idiot. You just need a regular wiring harness. I'm can't quite remember, but I don't think I had to use an antenna adapter

Yeah, they gave me the same bullshit, and it ended up doing a bit of damage when I installed it.

The wiring for Ion changed in 2004, and every place I checked has yet to update their info. You need a Metra 70-2102 harness if you have the non-amplified setup.

The dash kit is a Metra 99-3106.

You can check www.metraonline.com to verify, or call them at 1-800-221-0932. They're very helpful.

CarDomain and Crutchfield are both supplying the correct harness.

You guys have been more than helpful!! I defidently appreciate all your help!! I clicked on that ebay site and that is for a non-amplified setup. I have the 6 disc SAA with external amp. Is there a harness for the six speaker setup?

Arrow

there are no wiring harnesses out for the 06 yet. there was one on ebay that i got and it was wired wrong so i had to fix that to get it to work. i installed a double din unit though which i would definately recommend for the 06 since you have the room. onstar will not work after you change the deck though. here are some pics of mine.
