Aftermarket Radio

O.k. I know a lot of you guys have aftermarket cd players and stuff in your car. Well I went on best buy.com to try and find a new cd player/dvd player whatever, and it has this fit check thing, and I put in my car, and it's trying to tell me there isn't one after market radio that will fit in my car.

This has to be bullshit. Anyone know of a specific unit that will fit?

Welcome to the "Saturn stuck it to us with the stock radio"-club

You'll need a special harness...and DON'T go to Best Buy. Go to a stereo shop that know's what they're doing.

My guys custom made a harness instead of having to buy the one that costs $125 or so....Save me $75

That's lame. First the radiator can only be replaced with their radiator, now the radio. Boo.

You have the same dash right Dani? I bought my adapter at best buy for like $14 and my wiring harness from crutchfield.com for like $8. The work is super easy, I did my own and only took me about 2 hours to do my whole system.

I didn't have to use a special $125 harness for my car either.
I used this cd player in my car http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hVqnkdh...isplay=Kenwood

Eventhough they say a double din will not fit the Red Line, it will. I didn't even need a mounting kit. I just used the steel brackets that are screwed onto the stock radio.

The way it was explained to me is there's some sort of Chime module that allows some of the stuipd things to work...door open light, key in ignition "ding", airbags, etc. WITHOUT it, the stereo can be plugged in, but it may not work properly, OR those things may not work which COULD cause codes.

I'd say they were trying to "upsell" me, but I didn't pay for it in the end anyway.

There are some GM cars that are like that, my Grand Am was. But the Ion isn't, I still have my dings and no codes and it's been a year and a half
