RCA Inputs for '06 Radio Head Units?

So Friday I got my windows tinted. Sooo much nicer in this heat...haha. Anyway, while there I talked w/their audio tech about possibly installing my XM Commander that I have left over from a previous vehicle. (No point buying new when I can re-use, especially when I already have a nice unit that I like and am familiar with). But, if I installed XM, I would want to direct connect, not use a modualtor or anything.

The tech looked in his book and "thinks" that my head unit should have a set of RCA inputs in the back of it. If so, perfect. That is exactly what I need. (Worst case scenario, even if it doesn't, than I can jsut use an RCA to 3.5mm converter and use the Auxillary Jack, although I obviously would prefer not to).

Sooo, long winded story short, has anyone looked at the back of their '06 head units? I have the 6 disc CD/MP3, (non-XM version obviously...lol).

Thanks in advance all.

Hell, personally, I plan in wiring in some RCA jacks to the back if theire arn't already some, and just splice them into the 3.5mm jack leads.

But no, I have not seen the back of it yet.

Yeah, I have taken it out and no, it does not have RCA inputs on the back. I know of a company called Peripheral that sells a special harness, but it says that it is for aftermarket radios. You may want to do some research on their site cause i know that they make a lot of stuff for car audio. Also, you may want to sent their tech dept. and e-mail and ask them if they have something like that. I have done it for a different harness and they got back to me rather quickly.

One more thing. The link for the actual adapter says its for the RDS type radios and that it is for 2000-2005 gm radios. Heres the info on the adapter as well as the link to the page. The one on the page you are looking for is the last one under the GM section.

PXGM24
2000-2003 GM Vehicles with Class-2 Data-bus radios (a.k.a. RDS radios).
2000-2005 GM Vehicles with Class-2 Data-bus radios (a.k.a. RDS radios). Connects to 24-pin radio harness. Provides two pairs of adjustable stereo inputs. Simple plug and play interface. Inputs selectable and displayed through factory radio.

The '05 radio is not the same, they switched to the new corporate radio with the '06. That has screwed me before.

Sorry, I knew it was an 06, just forgot to mention that the adapter was for 2000-2005 and that it may not be the same radio as the 06. Anyways, you could try to e-mail them and see if they are going to put out an adapter for the 06 model radios. Who knows with this company, seems to me that they are always developing new things for car audio, a lot of good things from them. Also, don't forget that the radio that is in the 06's is in a lot other GM cars/trucks/suv, I know that the new Tahoe's and VUE's have them and my bro used to work for GM and he said that they are also in the new Cadillac CTS. Who knows how many others they are in.

Thanks All. More investigative work ahead. I wouldn't mind using an adapter in the back, (unless it eliminates my Line-In for my Ipod in the front). If that was the case, then I will just convert the RCA over to 3.5 and swap them out as needed. May be the simplest to be able to use both.
