GPS Units...

Thinking and looking...not totally committed or sold on the idea, but the fact of the matter is I'm in foreign lands right here and I'm somewhat of a techno-geek.

Anyone got any experience with them, suggestions, advice, etc?

I've been told Garmin's are the most user friendly out there, which is a plus for when the g-f is using it. I'm looking at the Nuvi 360 b/c it looks clean, portable, and seems like it'll get the job done and some. The Bluetooth feature is cool...$750+ is a pricetag that requires a STRONG committment though.

???

I'm a big fan of Garmin. There are "cooler" devices out there, but it's hard to go wrong w/ Garmin.

I still prefer the in-dash GPS units. I understand that you aren't looking to fork out a couple grand though. Let me know if you find anything at crutchfield.com I can get you a 10% discount if you can't find any cheaper units.

Crutchfield will be ALL in-dash units??? I just replaced my stereo deck not too long ago, so I definintely don't wanna go down that road again - I've got some custom work into that install.

*Edit...nevermind, they have the Nuvi that I was looking at and some others.

I've got a Tom-Tom. It's the lower version, but it's been pretty good to me. A couple times it screwed me up telling me to turn 100ft or so after the turn, but that's my fault for not looking at what streets I needed to turn at. All in all, it
s been a nice unit. My father has the higher version, and it seems to be a little better where mine lack, but they're both good.

I agree with the Garmin opinions... we used one for a trip to the boonies once, it was an aviation model from my girl's brother, but it was great.

get the nuvi and tell me what you think :P I was planning on getting one for a while there but was waiting for it to hit the streets more. you can get it for a LOT cheaper than 750 (meaning I'm betting at least a couple hundred cheaper now)

Amazon.com has the Nuvi360 for $720, plus the 3yr service plan (which I've been told is a MUST on ALL GPS units) for $69.99...Best Buy doesn't carry the 360, but they have the 350 for $800...Circuit City has the 360 for $900 - right now, I think I'm just gonna pick it up from Amazon, although they're "in stock soon" and shipping on a first come, first served basis so who knows when I'll actually get it?

I have an in-dash Pioneer w/ a 7 in touch screen. It works great, I would highly recommend it.

$900 for a regular GPS unit or $1400 for a decent GPS unit and a really nice headunit...I think the answer would be clear???
