I thought about it myself, but after looking in my trunk & a Cobalt's trunk....I think they have different contours on the sides....so I don't think it'll fit right.

Even if it did, the brackets to mount it won't be in the RL either

Plus the enclosure is gonna be really small & limit which kind of subs you can use anyways.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though

it's a pretty big piece of crap, took a quick look at it at the dealership. You're better off to mold your own piece out of fiberglass for that area.

I hear what your sayin but I'm just lookin for something cheap, light, and easy to take in and out with ok sound...my last saturn had a crazy sound system in it (168db, two twelves 3000 watts )
i just dont want to go that route with my RL

Alright man....

I took a picture of the corner of my trunk & tried to find a good picture of a Cobalt trunk on ebay.

Our wheel well is more square, & they have a rounded one....so I doubt it'd fit, since it's designed to fit the contours of the wheel well

You gotta be kidding me. That's doesn't even look as good as that under-the-seat unit Pioneer used to sell (or maybe still does). I bet I get more bass with my 6.5s securely mounted in a plate on the rear deck.
Too bad no one makes a good 6x9 for subwoofer application anymore. We could fit a pair of those on the rear deck with very little metal cutting. I keep checking ebay for a set of Boston Acoustic 690s but no luck so far.

Thats funny as shit man...the first system I ever built was using 6x9s for the low end sound...believe it or not they sound pretty damn decent...

What else do you expect when it's gotta be mass produced in a vehicle??....LOL

Kinda looks like the crappy "MACH Stereo" sub/sub box found in the Mustangs.

Kinda pathetic that Pioneer has to put their name on it & tarnish their brand/image...lol

I know with Dodge/Chrysler.....they use Boston Acoustic (my brother has a Charger R/T) & Alpine (my dad has a Durango) for their stereos....again, they don't sound anything like the aftermarket products they sell.

But I know that with the Kicker stereos thru Dodge though....they actually use aftermarket Kicker speakers/amps (like in the SRT-4 & SRT-8s)

What about fiberglassing an enclosure there instead? I remember seeing pictures of somebody that had done that (I don't remember who, but it was custom). I was thinking of maybe going that route, but I've never done fiberglass before, so it may just be an MDF box with contours.
