Perfect fitting sub box for the RL!

Well I did a "How To" a week ago for my first sub install in the RL, but I changed it up a little the other day.

I was looking around on Crutchfield.com & found a Audiobahn Triple 10" Hatch Enclosure for $99.99 (or in their Outlet for $89.99). And then shipping was $6.99, with no sales tax. I found a coupon for $20 off a total of $100. So I bought some 12 gauge speaker wire (12 feet) and the total came out to $96 SHIPPED. So I came up with an idea & decided to buy it. (If it didn't fit then I could've shipped it back for free & gotten my $$$ back)

Anyways......it's a slanted back box with a flat front that holds 3 10's & gives them .80 cubic feet for each sub & each sub is sealed in it's own airspace. It measures 37.5" long, 14" tall, 12" deep. Here's what it looks like:

Test fit in the trunk:

It fits perfectly between the little bumps in the floor!

So the only problem I noticed on this box was that there was one terminal cup on one end of the box, but it's designed for 3 subs & the other 2 slots are sealed:

Weird that it's like that, but I had this planned out already......put the subs on the outside holes & mount the amp in the middle. So I had to mount two terminal cups in the inside & then drilled a hole in the back & add a grommet for my wires to come in thru.

Installed the subs:

Ran the wires into the box & then attached the amp & made the connections:

Put the endcaps on & it's done!

And it fits snuggly up against the back seats too!

The setup weighs 55 pounds.

very nice and a great clean install. I have I believe the same box. Mine has three 10's in it. MTX somethings. Looks to be the exact same size. There is only one speaker terminal because they are wired together to see a 4ohm load.

I am thinking of getting rid of it and getting a single solobaric setup. L7 12", the square sub. Then I will get the grill they sell to go over it and paint that the blue color the car is.

Here is where I get cheasy. I was thinking of taking a Profile Amp. (I know cheap amps, but I have one now thats 480W and the SOB hits pretty damn hard and has worked flawlessly.) I was going to remove the shell around the amp and paint it blue also. Then all you would see would be a blue paint matching amp, and the "REDLINE" when it was powerd on. CHEEEEEESY

Looks nice, well done. Do you have the advanced audio as well? I'll have to measure, just curious if the box would bump that amp?

As we were talking about the other night at the track, I am looking at new boxes as well. I just run 1 10 which is fine for me. I think I am going to make a box and do something creative with the amp and add something else back there for car shows? What ever I do will be lighter than what I have now. I don't like that much weight back there day to day.

Dam, I'm starting to sound like Tib lol

I'm really sorry bro, but i'm stealing your idea. That looks sick as hell. as of now my amp is mounted to the back of my driver's side backseat.

And what kind of JL's are those? I was thinking about getting some W3's but i'm not sure if they are too deep

Those are the new 10W1's Rob. They sound great. That is what I was going to get until I found that W3 on Ebay.
