Recommendations on speakers for the RL

I am looking at upgrading the speakers in my RL. I do not want to replace the head unit yet. Anybody have any input?

I have owned/tried almost every brand out there, well, alot of different component sets... Focal are the best IMO. How much $ do you wanna spend?

Not looking for show quality. I just want better response and definition with maybe a bit of thump. Ihave the AAS stereo at the moment is it possible to just replace the 2 front & rears and add a Sub?

If you want to add a sub you will have to add an amp, wich is easy as hell to do in these cars. For a cheap good sounding speaker there are plenty that will work just fine and sound better than what you have. Pioneer, Sony, MTX, etc etc..etc...

My personal preferences are Infinity and Polk. You can pick up Polk EX or Infinity Reference components and rears for fairly cheap and they sound great. As far as subs go, get a decent box and add an amp, or get an amplified bazooka or something of that sort. Wont cost you too much and its cheap and effective. You can usually pick up used ones off Ebay for a decent price.

Yes on both questions. The only problem is that the stock AA amp has no ballz, so they make up for it by using 2 ohm speakers to double the power output. The Focal Access and Polyglass are great sounding speakers for the money. Some other decent sounding ones for the $ are Infinity and Polk Audio, but the Access or Polyglass sound better for about the same money.

I am running three MTX 10's off of a 480W RMS Profile amp. Its got enough kick, though I think half the amp isnt working anymore, so really its probably only 200W RMS. Its enought to make the music more enjoyable. I am eventually going to go with a single solor baric. You cant get to nuts with our cars because they rattle like hell and sound like shit. On the inside its fine, but on the outside, not so good. Maybe its just the Saturn's I have owned and heard, but I got a feeling the plastic side panals just tend to vibrate. To me there is nothing worse than the idiot going down the block and all you can hear is the sound of his trunk rattling. So annoying.

Depending on your taste and the speakers you choose, 200 to 500 should be way more than enough Wattage. IMO that is.

You get an amp that has speaker level inputs, or you buy an RCA to preamp converter. Thats how I have my sub amp hooked up, sounds just fine.
