Car PC

So i saw an article on here awhile back about installing a PC to replace the car stereo. I started researching and found allot of problems with the way people were setting them up (heat and power ect). So I tried different setups and different hardware before I settled on this deal.

I am still working on it obviously but thought I would show the first days progress. I did this over the weekend and drove about 100 miles and i love it. all my mp3s, all my movies (divx encoded), all the family guy episodes, navigation, internet, and once I buy the obd2 connection I will have in car diagnostics. And maybe I will buy hp tuners so I can tune in my car on the fly!







Also, I will be installing these for friends and family soon, so if anyone is interested, let me know .

if you got the wirless internet card, you could frigggin be on AIM while you dive...
where did you get most of the parts for the PC?
I see this as one of my next mods...

you are my fucking hero. THis is what I want to do! I have all the GPS software and USB antenas already, and a 250gb hard drive for it. as well as a cable that charges my phone while getting me a 500kbs connection. YOu need to put a USB port up front though

yea a definate on the frount mount usb...
...I was looking into splicing a track ball into the steering wheel. scroll and click while you drive...

I currently have a four port usb hub under the ebrake. i will mount it next weekend when I finish up the bezel and a few other things I want to do.

As far as the parts, they came from all over the place. I dont think one part came from the same company. just make sure you get high temp threshold hard drive and what not as well as some extra fans.

oh ya, and the screen is massive. My advice, get a screen that is smaller so you dont have to worry about all the cutting and customization to get the damn thing to fit.

i installed msn messenger on there just for shits and giggles.

Oh man, that's slick! I don't think I'd ever leave my car.

I like the NEW (single) DettleJ - now if the other SCRLA guys could just get him to the track! (Of course, give him another week or so, and he could probably wire up a rolling CompuLink 1/4 mile timing system in his car and setup a track on the fly!)

lilliput screens are touch screen that's why it's waht I was looking for
