MMATS D500.2 amp and Kove Armageddon pro sub

Audiophiles:

I have been offered a chance to buy a MMATS D500.2 amp and Kove Armageddon sub. I haven't been able to dig up many specs on these (the amp isn't listed on MMATS site, and the Kove site is down) so I was wondering if anybody had any experience with these.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Watts, zfactor, anyone? I've been finding reviews about the sub that seem pretty positive, but I'm always looking for an unbiased opinion.

The amp I really haven't heard much about.

well..... kove used to make some killer shit... they were recently purchased by the new owners of us amps.. just fyi as was re audio..hence the reason for no web site from kove.. us amps went in and basically just backed big trucks up there and emptied the place out.. i know someone who's uncle is one of the high ups in us amps... anyway.. mmats amps are well finicky.. WHEN they work they work great.. notice i said when... they are well know for burning up but in the 500 model i dont think that would be to much of an issue as it was when we sold the much higher power models...the amps ARE WAY OVERPRICED WHEN NEW.. so depending on the deal your getting id say it depends... now that armageddon needs SOME POWER TO REALLY SHINE... id personally use at least 1kw on it.. 500 will be ok if its in a ported box and its tuned right.. most of the older kove stuff sorta mimicked earthquake stuff... one of the original designers used to work for the ORIGINAL lanzar not the crap out today coming from pyramid.. yes lanzar comes from there... again depends what you are paying.. i can very easily get you a 1500 watt massive audio amp and sub that will stomp the crap out of that stuff...

so what are you paying.. and make 150% sure that amp works..

lol .. enough info for you

also my opinion may be sorta biased since we used to sell both brands, and we had issues with both

That sub is pretty good, nice and loud and the SQ isn't too bad either. Never played with Mmats amps, just the subs... a long time ago.

Lol z, yeah, thats good info.

Its an older Kove sub, so its still their quality stuff.

I think I may take it, but I'm gonna be checking it all out next week before I do.

I'm not really looking for stuff thats obnoxiously loud...I'm just looking for something thats quality and this came up just by chance.

Thanks for the update Z, been out of the car audio forums for awhile. Mmats used to be quite underrated for power output. The d300hc was rated at 1200 and did around 1750 rms. Haven't kept up last few years though.
The Armaggeddon is a big hefty sub but outdated by today's supersubs. I don't think under a kilowatt is enough to bother with the weight and heavy box required. I would definately get the amp though. Mmats at least was pretty good stuff.

^^^ agreed about the sub man... nowadays there are subs near half the weight of that monster that will perform just as good...with near half the power... a few i love are the idmax, matrix elite, any of the tc sounds designs are awsome, check out fi audio... scott owner and builder of fi is the former owner and designer of re audio.. his stuff ROCKS!!!! I CANT SAY THAT ENOUGH.... the q series are freaking awsome.. and they get stupid loud if you want them to as well but they are great sq subs.. imo as i said earlier id stay away from the mmats amps... i dont think we have ever had a mmats that we installed the stayed installed.. i remember almost every one going back for something at sometime.. they just always broke.. and the old ones using the toshiba outputs are way expensive to get fixed if it burns up.. yes they def were wayyyy underated but not reliable, even in db drag they came and went pretty quickly...

MAKE 150% SURE IF YOU USE THE MMATS AMP THAT YOU PROVIDE IT ENOUGH POWER... if they drop at all below 12 volts or so you can pretty much kiss it goodbye
