Line Output Converter

So, I know that when I attach a line output converter to the speaker wires in my trunk, it's going to mooch a little power, but how much are we talking here? Will it be noticable or will it be so minute that i'd only be able to know when i attach a voltmeter? Unfortunately, the lady i bought my RL from didn't get the AAS, and I don't want to gimp my rear speakers by hooking up a sub. I do have plans to replace the factory deck at some point, but I'm not sure when. Anyone know about this?

Quick question for zFactor, since you seem to work in a shop. My last system, before it was taken from my car, had a Q-Logic box Type 1/2 with removeable ports. Was wondering if you'd know where to find something older like that, cause everywhere i've been looking, I can only find the ones with the goofy slit ports that cost 150 bucks. It looked like this sealed one, with two cup holders on the top(best way i can think to describe it) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6NZ7vT0...0%27%27+ported

I used to get em from Circuit City when I was working there, but they've since switched to selling MTX boxes.

The power loss will be negligible if any. Technically, you are lowering the impedance and the amp would compensate by increasing its output current. That's providing it doesn't reaching the current limits of the power supply or output stages though. A LOC in parallel with 4 ohm speakers will be barely change the overall impedance.

As for the box, I buy lots of old gear on ebay.

I ended up picking up a Q-Logic Box off ebay. Was Listed as new and had no problems, but good ol' UPS messed it up, so Now I have to wait....

If anyone knows where to get a new 10'' Round Baffle and the plastic surroundings for a Q-Logic box, lemme know, I can only find squares.

30 bucks for it, which in turn draws less power from the amp, which means less money out of my pocket when it comes to buying an amp. Ehh.

you wont even be able to tell a difference... i have a line out converter pushing 2 kicker comp 12's, which are pushed by a kicker 5 channel... even if you do lose some sound, you wont be able to tell...

and the "slit" port as you call it will not "draw" less power from your amp. the box will be a bit more efficient so you will not maybe have to turn it up as loud for the same level as a round port .... but if you made the round ports the same size you would be exactly the same as the slot ports in the new box.. the shape of the port really doesnt matter all that much.. as long as it has the same equivelent sq in of opening.. what will make a difference is port placement in the box.. that can get into a loooooooong lengthy discussion so ill leave it for another time.. but any sound port can be just as loud as a slot port. you will still use the same power... your amp puts out its power no matter what you hook to it.. it just depends on the input signal and source as to how much of its power it will put out at any given time
