iPod In My 04

I was wondering if there was any way that I can hook my iPod up to my 04's CD player. I know that it doesn't have the plug in like the newer CD players, but I was wondering if there was an aftermarket kit for making it work. I don't really want to go the FM tuner route.

With the stock head unit with no type of AUX input, I dont see how you could and an input to it......You my be stuck with the FM modulator( one that goes inline with your anntena)

Did the 04's have an option for a CD changer?

The 04's came with a choice between a single disc player and a in dash 6 disc changer. I gotone with only a single disc player.

I have the 6-disc changer, just not the one with the aux in. I also have xm installed, but I don't have the service. Is there any way to tap into that?

Ya if it was a six disc that had a changer else where in the car you might be able to use that input, but I think you are going to be stuck with the inline fm modulator

if your XM uses an FM modulator, you'd have to check the connections in the back. They do use a standard audio jack, but i'm not sure of the size. I believe your iPod uses a 2.5mm headphone jack, and you could luck out and be able to snag the one from the xm.

If you'd like a more professional look, rather then wires running everywhere and an XM just unplugged and sitting there, alpine started making a deck that has the actual data cable the ipod's use and the software works in real time with your ipod since it goes straight to the radio. The only down side, aside from $250 for it, is the fact that it only puts out 40W per channel vs most other stereos for that price will give you 50-52W. However, if you don't have AAS, you shouldn't notice a difference between the alpine and the stock, as thats about the power a stock will put out.

You could also try a wireless transmitter....I used to use that in my old Focus (Monster brand--$70 from Best Buy) & it charged the iPod too.

But after I got sick of that I did what Zunyr recommended, just bought a aftermarket radio ('05 Alpine) that had the iPod interface & it worked pretty good. It was easy to control the iPod from the radio & the iPod just layed in the glove box....it also keeps it charged too.

The '06 Alpine HU's just have a cable (no box anymore) to the HU for the iPod which is only $30 and just hooks up to the back.

Just an option though

I'm looking at doing this to my car, and was wondering if there's any kind of delay between selecting a song and having it play. Granted, the one's with HDD's do, but my Nano just instantly starts playing it w/o delay, and it'd really bug me if suddenly it started having one.

Zunyr,

What do you wanna add to your car???

With the Alpine iPod hookup there was a *little* delay, but nothing horrible.
Wireless transmitter plays right away.

Well, right now i've got the 6 disc in dash with a cable to connect my ipod, but Ideally i'd like to get one of the new decks with the "Fullspeed" from alpine, which they claim has no delay. My problem with tho, is that it only puts out 40Wx4Channels, which to me, is sub par. I don't have a problem with putting 2 or 3 amps in my car, I actually love to install this stuff, which is why I did it for a living for a while, I just hate spending money on it, cause when you start to get into the thousands price range for the amount of equipment in your car, it becomes a headache when you don't have a sealed garage to park in =).

Ideal setup

2 10'' Infinity Kappa Perfect (Have)
1000W Mono Block
4 Infinity Kappa 60.7cs
4x75W Amp for those
Pioneer DVD Deck 7'' Screen.

But, as of right now, I've got a little over 300 in spending cash each month, so my purchases on performance parts and audio parts are limited. So, I wait...
