Alarm System

So i wasn't really sure where to put this one.

But I bought a new alarm system for the rl, been kind of paranoid with the addition of the computer. I bought the Hornet 564T http://www.drdetailshop.com/564t.htm

Do I need a Transponder kit to bypass the stock alarm system? I have never installed an alarm system, so I will be learning this on the fly, just want to make sure I have all the parts ready.

Thanks for the help.

only if you plan on running a remote start..............I have installed many alarm/remote start systems, just got done doing one in our 2001 Venture. The Redline is definetly a bit more complicated than most vehicles I have seen, but shouldnt be too bad. Check out www.bulldogsecurity.com for a wiring diagram.

If my memory serves me correct, the GM Passlock 2 is not cheap, runs like 100 or 150? It's a programmable module that spoofs the car into thinking the key is in the ignition when you goto hit the remote start. You'll also need to run a clutch bypass and remember to never park your RL in gear if you intend to use the remote start.

I dont know about the Saturn specific one, but the paslock 2 one for our van, wich was incredibly easy to program, was $30 dollars. Contact this guy on ebay, he is very very informative, and will have all the parts and info you need.
http://myworld.ebay.com/mypushcart/ he is very helpfull and will have all you need to do it. Aditionally if you have a good remote start, it will make you hook up relays to ensure that the car is not in gear. If it detects that the car is in gear, it will not remote start. There are remote starters for manual transmission vehicles that are specific for this application. I know the one I was looking at was $70 and had all the features I needed. (I ended up just getting a winter beater though).

thanks guys, I appreciate the information. I will contact the ebay guy tomorrow. From what I gathered the hornet (made by dei which is a good system?) has everything. I was told that all I need is the transponder to bypass what alarm is already installed oem. We will see, hopefully thats it and I can get this knocked out in a day, maybe 2.

i guess I am lucky I am in cali and my office is a mile from the home, so worst case i walk to the office for a couple of days. lol

no there is an adapter you need pm me ill set you up. its a learning module that fools he car in seeing the right resistance while it is cranking super easy install...in fact when installing a alarm/remote start every single wire except the 2 key sense wires are at the bcm under the radio its really very easy to do.. MAKE 100% YOU DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE A SIMPLE TEST LIGHT TO TEST WIRES !!! you can very easily burn up the bcm.. make sure to use a dmm (multi meter)
