Changing out speakers and tweets in a AAS?

Ok, i got the 6 speakers advanced audio......
Im not sure if this has been touched on later but i have a simple question....

first off let me say i have no interest in getting a sub or getting another, larger amp.......
I also dont want to change out the headunit. I have had some stolen before and i think the factory headunit will serve me just fine........ besides i like the look of it...

now the question:

All i want to do is change out the speakers........ USING STOCK wiring.
i know crutchfield has the harnesses.......
so my question is....... by JUST changing out speakers, will i get better sound quality/output?

can i just leave the stock tweeters there, and change out the speaker with like a 2 way or a 3 way?

Let me know if you do change them out, I might by your speakers. I've heard if you use aftermarket speakers, ur gonna want an amp to give them more power.

For what you wanna do.....

Well since with the AAS system, the speakers are amplified (by the factory amp).....so yeah I'm gonna guess that it will sound better then the factory (paper cone) speakers for sure

Granted the factory amp isn't pushing much power (compared to an aftermarket amp), but yeah it'll definitely sound better with nicer speakers

And the factory tweeters are just fine (and would be unaffected).....I'd stick with those.....hell of a lot better than no tweeters at all...u know???

OR you could buy a component system & hook up the tweeters in the stock tweeter panels (like I did with the Infinity tweeters I had). But you gotta make sure the tweeters will fit/look right in the panels.

I'd go for it....it'll be a simple swap too. Just buy the speakers (from Crutchfield..like you said).....then they'll give the harness to plug into the factory harness....it's super super simple to swap. You wouldn't have to touch the factory amp or anything like that.

But yeah...I'd just buy some coaxials & call it a day. If it doesn't sound better (but it should) just send the speakers back to Crutchfield!

So you get harness' when you buy aftermarket speakers now? Thats great! I used to have to cut thefactory harness off then solder it to the speaker. Is that only certain speakers or does it work on all of them?

3 and 4 way are generally swap meet quality. You're better off to move up to a higher quality 2 way with real crossovers.

Well Crutchfield.com (& sometimes CarDomain.com) includes the harnesses and adapter plates (if needed) as well as the Master Sheet for your car (instructions specifically for your car) at no extra cost
