Running RCA's ?

For those of you who have already done this from the back of an aftermarket HU to the trunk area.......which side of the car did you have better luck with running the RCA's?

I was thinking the passenger side.

in general, it's whichever side you're NOT running the power cable from. Since the Ion has battery in the trunk, it doesn't matter which side you use really. If you cross any wires just make sure they meet at a T (perpendicular to each other) and not II (parallel) or you'll get nasty hum.

In every car i've done it, it's been the passenger side simply because the power wire ran from the engine bay on the driver's side cuz that's where the battery was. Also may want to just have a look at what size the connectors are on your amp and run it that way since we've got the option. But also consider any other electronics you have running down the side of your car (engine sensors, etc)

I have torn out the entire interior of a redline (carpet and all) and there is not much you should run into, other than power lines that go back to the brake lights. Those run somewhere near the center though.

Power down left, RCA's down the right. All wires are monster or tsunami. Dont skimp on the system man, it seems like alot of $$ now but its worth it.

Lol. Monster and Tsunami wires are some of the worst wires you can use. You realize Tsunami is the cheap off brand of Metra and carries the same componentry as brands like Raptor right? And as far as Monster...everyone knows they only have their name in home stuff. Car audio came next with little to no focus on quality. Stick with better brands like JL Audio and StreetWires still makes some good stuff. Not trying to argue with you man, but I've been in the industry for far too long to let those myths keep going on. And I just came from CES so I know there isn't anything new out there that has been done.

Honestly, if you actually use a good set of RCAs and the right head unit, not some bullshit 2v Alpine or something, you can run them right down the car the whole way next to a 150amp carrying 0-gauge power wire and put them on the crappiest amp you can find and have no noise. It always holds true that you spend the bulk of your money in the front of your car, head unit wise.

My Sony picks up a lot of alternator noise when using XM. I'm not sure if it's the head unit, or the XM adapter (which draws power from the Sony) but I know it's not the wires.

My RCAs are no-name, but they're shielded.

Passenger side seemed easiest for me to use (when I ran my remote wire)

Just pull up on the trim (clips in) and hide the RCAs under the carpet...pretty simple
