Mad? no.... There was enough info given to figure out the technical aspects. Disapointed maybe that a good discusion got derailed.

Talk LOUD and SLOW!

Anyway, Pierre, since you seem to know a thing or two as well, Have you ever herd of using the trunk/box together as a dual chamber band-bass alignment? Granted the trunk is VERY lossy, but it would be interesting to see what could be yeilded, no?

I would not mind keeping the technical aspects going... The car environment is a very interesting one!

Oh... My expirence is limited with band-pass tuning, that's why I ask. I have always stayed away from band-pass due to the inherent issues with the set-up. But just like anything else, I am sure it can sound good when applied correctly.

Just speculating but I'd guess the trunk area is not sealed off well enough to be the second box of a 6th order band pass.

If you were able to seal it up though you might have a shot. Id worry more about air leaks than panels flexing.

The down side is the chambers tuning changes when you carry any kind of luggage or fold down the rear seat for extra capacity.

I've never done bandpass either. The fact that Bose has sold more bandpass boxes than anyone ever will takes the joy out of it.

Although there are modeling programs out there the best they will do is get you close assuming even that you get correct TS parameters from the driver manufacturer. Plan on building a couple of iterations before getting best performance. You really need measuring equipment to optimize band pass. That puts it out of reach for most of the hobby crowd.

Yeah, I guess my speculation was correct then. Mabye I will try one for the house then Got a clearence 10" DVC that I tested to get the accurate TS after breaking in in for 48 hours at Fs. Just to say I did it. I have done everything but! Thanks for backing that up, it woudl have sucked to go down that road and met the evils that lie there....

just wanted to give this a bump because there has been a lot of pics and reference to these 12" subs and such going in the trunk.... this system will surpass most 12" sound systems, and It amazes the hell out of me every day.... I just bought a new CD and I was simply in shock at what these little sons of bitches can do... If any one is in need for a set up I would, will and have recommend this set up hands down.

lol P.S. all the wires and position of the amp has been cleaned up.... lol you can no longer see any wires unless the box is moved....
