I was at BB today, prob. gonna pick up a set of apline type S or type R coaxial 6 1/2" for the back... I have the AAS system and am not too impressed with the stock sound. I wanna do the front later on, prob. get the type S components. Do I need to bypass the amp, or completly rip it out? Or just a simple swap?

Your just going to install different speakers and utalize the factory AAS amp correct? or are you getting speakers and a different amp????

I wouldnt get those Alpines if you plane on keeping the stock amp. They are rated 4ohm speakers, wich will make the power the amp pushes significantly less than it does now. Factory speakers run at 2ohm, Alpine speakers are again 4ohm. AMP will see less wattage as a result. IMO Infinity speakers are far more superior than alpine anyways, Polk's are also, and Best Buy is way overpriced.

Again just my opinion, you choose what you like....

I agree, as stated above, I would go ahead and get a 2 or 4 channel amp, and get the up front component set, and replace the aas amp.If you get nice gear, you don't need rear speakers, and only a 2 channel amp, or 4 channel bi-amped all to the front. Don't waste your money on rear speakers, put that $ towards nicer components for the front. Use the stock front's to replace the rears, and set your fader way to the front as the rears will be 2 ohm and twice as loud, and will only take away from the better sounding front sound field anyway, if you must have rear fill.

Which component system for the fronts would you recommend? I keep hearing Infinity Kapas? What Amp?

Infinity and polk are both good bang for the buck speakers. The Polks have a little stronger midbass, and the infinitys have stronger treble/ tweeters. For amps, I have always had good experiences with Mitek (Xtant / MTX / Coustic) or pretty much any american amp is good. A good way to get a lot of power to the front speakers is to get a small 4 channel amp, and bridge all the outputs to the front speakers. The more power you put to those fronts, the better it will sound.Stay away from cheap Chinese amps, they lie about output, and blow up as soon as the warranty's up.Good place to get deals on stuff with warranty is www.strerodirect.com and www.ikesound.com

In my old car I had a 12" Kicker L7 and a kenwood kac-9102d amp. For this car i'm putting that in and i think i'm getting the kenwood dnx5120 HU and kenwood kac-8402 amp for the four speakers... I cant decide what speakers to get. Any suggestions on this system?

well if your going to run a seperate amp for the main's then its really your preference.....

I like Infinity Speakers, and I also had Polk DB's that were great...............and they are both fairly inexpensive.........
