alpine hu with AAS= no sound

Alright guys. I'm pretty positive the AAS is screwing with me. I have an Alpine HU model # cde9852 out of my old truck. I hooked the harness up for the HU to the factory harness and the HU turns on but no sound. I'm sure the AAS is not letting me get sound out. So if anyone can feed me any advice or info i would appreciate it.

I had a similar experience. I ended up running everything tapped off the AAS amp and it sounds great.

Speaking from experience with other cars, (not the redline) there is always a different harness when there is a factory external amp installed. My guess, and you can check this theary by meatering the amp in the back, is that you arent turning the factory amp on when the head unit comes on. That would be the first thing I would check.

I assume you bought a harness to hook up the receiver without cutting the factory wires. I know when I took out my six disk and put it in my wifes truck, the six disk worked fine. BUT, when I took her single disk, and put it in my car, it didnt work. Powered on but no sounds. The amp was not getting any power. My assumption was there must be something in the factory radio, that gives power to the "turn on lead" for the factory seperate amp. If its something that simple, you just need to find what wire is the turn on lead, and use the decks power antennae output.

that makes sense. I know the previous owner had a different stereo in the car, the trunk still has the dynamat on it. I also noticed that the plugs for the factory amp have wires spliced into them that are cut to about 1/2 inch long from when he removed everything. Anyone have any other input?>

What color are the wires that splice into the factory amp. I am betting that one of those wires was to turn on a seperate amp for subs. Thats how I have mine hooked up. I want to say it was a pink/green wire, but I will have to go out there tommorrow and check.

i went and look at the harness to the factory AAS amp. the previous owner spliced 5 wires into the harness with splice connectors. I will get a picture up of it soon. Anyone know what i need to do to get the HU and sub and amp to work.

there is a blue wire that goes into the factory harness, you have to connect that to the remote wire coming out of the HU and you can splice that to tap in your other amp. basically, you are getting no sound because you need to send the remote signal to the AAS amp.

The five wires that were tapped into the back amp are for adding an additional amp.

Four of them are speaker wires.

One of them is the turn on lead.

He most likly had an amp that had speaker level inputs, but you can also get a speaker level to RCA out adaptor. Thats exactly how I hooked up my sub amp.
