XM to Sirius

I'm looking to make the swap between the two but have a couple questions. All the threads that I found when I searched are old and turned into arguements/debates about the two merging and no real info was found.

I'm pretty sure this is what I need, and would just like to make sure that this is the correct part. Also, will I need to use the Sirius antenna, or can I still use my factory XM one on the roof?

If anyone has done the swap please chime in!

Thanks

From what I understand you only have to install the unit that changes it to a sirius receiver. The channel names will still show up as XM names but they'll be sirius channels.

I would wait. Recently the two companies made huge progress with the FCC to become one company. If talks die out or the FCC comes in between them then I would buy a new one.. but at this rate the two are still going forth with the merger. So you may be able to get all the channels with your current one, or you may end up having to buy a new one anyways to even use it after the merger [haven't read that much into it as I don't use it]

ok that shit is sick!!! if you go to sirius.com and look up that box.....it will show as XM1 or XM2 on some radios instead of SR1 and SR2.....but will display the sirius channel info either way. Like channel 45 is Shade 45 and that will show on the display along with song info n things....just like XM does. I think i'm going to get this....i didn't know something like this was available and i have a sirius radio stuck on my window in my RL now. Would be super cool if i could control it with my deck!!! Also, I could get rid of something inside my car.

Are you saying That if I just change the xm module in the trunk to the sirius module sirius will work in our cars on the stock radio, w/ a subscription w/ sirius of course.
