I've always wanted to do a carputer setup but it looks like I will be going the easier route and just buy a Galaxy Tab or the like with my mobile service and using it for gps, music and the like
i was in a similiar boat and ended up just going with a tablet then running a full pc.

I just installed my samsung galaxy tab 2. Just wanted to be able to play music in style. It goes online if near wifi, maybe Ill have a phone hotspot some time. I wanted it removable so I can hide it or take it with me when I park.
And I finally figured out a use fer the stupid little cubby.
Haha, Gorilla glue, FTMFW, looks good when in place, it doesn't vibe and want to fall out? I would imagine that that tablet isn't light
nope works great. I used a block of hard wood drilled 2 holes into it and matched em with the plastic and drilled holes in that slightly larger then used sinkable wood screws so they are almost smooth with the plastic and then covered up the heads with electrical tape so they wouldnt scratch the back of the unit and used the gorilla glue fer alittle extra strength. I wrapped some weather strip around the block so it fits snug in the cubby doesnt bounce around looks built in. The tablet is actually really light its the 7in with a 32gig micro stick.
Only prpblem I have now is Ive had the tablet for alittle over a month and the thing has started to lag bad. Is alittle annoying.
