STREET MODIFIED
o The SMAC has proposed the rules for a supplemental FWD class as follows: Add new section 16.4 as follows:
o Add to 16.B (and renumber following subsection accordingly):
3. Supplemental Class SMF
o Add to Appendix A under STREET MODIFIED CATEGORY:
Supplemental Class SMF
SMF is a supplemental class open to front-wheel-drive vehicles only. Its rule set will follow that of Street Modified, with
the following exceptions:
�� Minimum weight of 1650lbs. + 200 lb/liter. The 1.4 adder for forced induction still applies.
�� +150 pounds for 2-seat cars (CRX)
The intent of this proposal is to create a class for slightly heavier FWD cars that don’t fit competitively within the current SM rules.
Front-drive vehicles are still eligible to compete in SM or SM2 under those classes’ present weight minimums. If the proposal for
reduced minimum weights for tires 275mm or smaller is accepted for Street Modified, it will not be applicable to SMF.

HOLY SHIT!! This is awesome! Suddenly, SM is a LOT more attractive, and all you stage II guys don't have to run against $100,000 modded M3's. I predict this class will be HUGE at national level events, too!
This is the first good/intelligent thing to come from the SMAC in ages...

The tech bulliten about the IRL added to DSP is also noteable in this forum, so I left it attached - way to get it added [insert members name i can't recall but who posted about having petitioned], even though we all knew it belonged there anyway, lol. No protests to worry about now!

newish to the 'x' scene!...who exactly is SMAC?..are they a regional organization??..i only know of SCCA here in central florida. As for the new sub-class it sure makes a lot of sense...i just recently started running SM group against the evo/sti guys....tough going !..AT LEAST I MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE OF THE OCCASIONAL 'PLACE' WITH fwd/sm...thanks much for the info..colm.

The thing I love most about SM is that it has everything. Yes it is nearly impossible for a FWD to be competitive nationally in SM.

SMF Will still be real tough for us. You get a guy with a boosted civic or other light weight, good luck. It will be fun though.

It will be real interesting to watch it grow.
