For those familiar with the SCCA solo rules

I just put my new springs in and short shifter. I think this is gonna put me into the Street Prepared category. Can anybody confirm this? I gotta get new static cling numbers made up for this sunday sunday sunday.

Thanks, AL

you might want to read the book, Each Class going up, can do more. but Street Touring should be the lowest class you could enter. Static cling numbers? where you finding those, and post of they fall off... I bought the window markers... would buy magnetic numbers, but just doesnt work with the plastic doors....

Stock
13.8 SUSPENSION
Standard, as defined herein, suspension springs must be used. They
may not be cut, shortened or collapsed. Cars with swing axle
suspension may be lowered sufficiently to achieve no more than two
degrees of negative camber at rest, and may use a camber
compensator.
Both the front and rear suspension may be adjusted through their
designed range of adjustment by use of factory adjustment
arrangements or by taking advantage of inherent manufacturing
tolerances. This encompasses both alignment and ride height
parameters, if such adjustments are provided by the stock
components and specified by the factory as normal methods of
adjustment. However, no suspension part may be modified for the
purpose of adjustment unless such modification is specifically
authorized by the factory shop manual for non-competition purposes.
Suspension bushings, including but not limited to those which carry
the weight of the vehicle and determine ride height, may not be
replaced with bushings of a different material or dimension.
Replacement control arms for vehicles having integral bushing/arm
assemblies must be standard factory parts as per Sections 12.4 and
13.0.
If authorized by the manufacturer, the use of shims, special bolts,
removal of material to enlarge mounting holes, and similar methods
are allowed and the resulting alignment settings are permitted even if
outside the normal specification or range of specifications
recommended by the manufacturer. If enlarging mounting holes is
specifically authorized but no material removal limits are specified,
material removal is restricted to the amount necessary to achieve the
maximum factory alignment specification.

STREET TOURING CATEGORY
14.8 SUSPENSION
A. Ride height may only be altered by suspension adjustments, the
use of spacing blocks, leaf spring shackles, torsion bar levers, or change or modification of springs or coil spring perches. This does
not allow the use of spacers that alter suspension geometry, such
as those between the hub carrier and lower suspension arm.
Springs must be of the same type as the original (coil, leaf, torsion
bar, etc.) and except as noted herein, must use the original spring
attachment points. This permits multiple springs, as long as they
use the original mount locations. Coil spring perches originally
attached to struts or shock absorber bodies may be changed or
altered, and their position may be adjustable. Spacers are allowed
above or below the spring. Suspension bump stops may be
altered or removed.

Yeah I thought street touring would be for me also, but you have to use a tire with a minimum tread wear rating of 140. I have useing V700 Victo's which have a tread wear rating of 50. Tires are unlimited in SP.

I have been using the static clings all year so far. I have had them up to 85 with no problems. I have a local sign shop make them for me. I would recommend you have the numbers and class printed on a single sheet for each side. It is easier and quiker to apply that way. I get blue numbers printed onto a clear sheet.

Your mods put the car into STX, except the tires you have bump it right out and into street prepared. It would be better for you to lose the tires and go to STX if you want to be competitive. I've been advised that STX would be a good place for the red line IF an LSD was installed and running a good set of hi-perf tires as opposed to sticky race tires and no LSD in DSP.

I may just run my next auto-x on my Dunlops and feel it out. As it is right now the car handles superbly. It might also be a good idea to see what it feels like now with the race tires. Ill put them on and go for a hot lap around the block to get a feel. I spent good money on those tires though and I would like to use them up. decisions decisions

Also am not to concerned about being uber cometitive. I gots me a lot more learnin to do

Thanks for all the advice guys

Where would I be with my intake? I know I'll be outta the stock class, but I just have the intake, and short throw.... and the torque brace. In terms of speed/handling mods. I assume just one class up from stock?

If you stick with street tires you would be in stx. If you go with race rubber you would be in dsp. Your club may have different classifacations though. Do they use all the standard SCCA classes?

I think I made a mistake getting the race tires. In stx I can run with all the mods that I plan on doing and not have to change tires at events.

They seem to stick to the SCCA classes... their rules list is either a copy of the SCCA, or links to the SCCA book. I'm gonna read it over this evening/afternoon. I couldn't even find my car listed last time I looked.
