The Sleeper Effect

It's so much fun having other old-time road course drivers come up to me and say..."What the hell is in that thing?" or "That's a Saturn?"

The SuperLap Series has been a lot of fun this past year, even more so now that I can be competitive and not really worry about breaking (too) much. When I was running my 91 Talon, I would spend the week after the race tracing oil leaks or replacing this part or some other part. Kinda took some of the fun out of it.

There's one more event for this year (Dec 17th), and I'm hoping to improve on my best lap time of 43.36 by a couple of tenths. If I can creep into the 42s in December, that would make my whole year!

The best thing about the last two outings is that the RL is 100% stock, and I've placed 3rd in the Limited FWD group each time. EVERY other car in my class is modded, some pretty extensively. The Class leading Mini Cooper S driven by my friend Barry runs Toyo RA-1s, Brembo Brakes, smaller S/C pulley and a couple of other mods, that he says are "fun little secrets", so I feel VERY good about only being 2 seconds behind him this past Sunday.

The results for November 20th won't be up for most likely 2 weeks or so, but the October results were posted a few days ago:

October SuperLap Results

Next season seems to be a go at this point, although the fact the track is scheduled to close in April doesn't bode well for any of us, whether drag, road-course or SCCA. Still planning to mod the RL next year as parts and funds become available, hopefully they'll both be available at the same time!

An RL w/ a comp package and Stage I or II would surprise many folks.

I haven't had my RL Auto-Xing or to a course yet, but hopefully next spring. The sleeper effect, I think, is worth the money for the Saturn.

Wait a minute...I spent less than I would've for a SRT-4 or Cobalt SS/SC.

Guido when you get that video, if you get it like in raw format (pre streetfire or putfile or whatever, let me or slsduke know) i dunno what jon (slsduke)'s plan is, but i'm up for compiling a RL video while I figure out when exactly I'm buying one of my own
