Auto-X question

Hello all. Ok,I've been wanting to try auto-x for a long time because it looks like it would be alot of fun! I want to try it just for shits -n- giggles...but I'm sure I'll get more serious once I get spanked a few times(can't help my competitive nature)

But anyway,my question is,If I mod my car with anti roll bar system and frame connectors and such, will that make me have to compete in a more advanced class or something? I know absolutely nothing about the rules and such, but I want to start outagainst other entry level guys, not get schooled by veterans right off the bat.

Any info on the rules and possibly where to go in MD. would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance

The red line's suspension is good as it stands for autocrossing. Just do an alignment to get negative camber and you're all set. Do nothing and you are in D stock (possible changes would put the Red Line into G Stock, but I'm not sure about that at this time) Cold air intake, non factory LSD or stage kits will knock you to STX. It doesn't much matter either way if you are racing against Subaru WRX's, they just have too much traction for us to stomp on them. Just go have fun as the car is right now. A good set of Hoosier autocross tires is the best thing that you could buy to get the most out of a D Stock Red Line.

Here is a copy of the 2005 rules.
http://www.scca.com/Solo/Index.asp?IdS=0074C6-DE96880&x=050|070&~=

The RL does run in D stock. I run in STX because of my mods. STX allows you to do allmost anything to your car ( refer to rules). The only thing STX does not allow on SC cars is a smaller SC pulley. Keep an eye out for the 2006 rule book.

Are you talking parking lot autox, or time trials on larger courses? I'd suggest larger courses if possible. I'm running in the stock class, and next year I'm gonna take first before jumping up. I was coming in 3rd with stock tires.

Brakes are amazing, and I'm faster than all the other cars in my class. Even the WRX's.

damn spooner. Good driven eh? The WRX's are pretty hard to beat around here, but i dont like them in auto X. i co-drove one, and they just hit boost way too late for their own good.

I'll be taking the redline out next season and i'll have a camera in it. Expect lots of videos! I'll be in D stock.

Oh yea, and the RL rocks! I can stay in 3rd gear for almost the entire course, and the brakes out do everything on the course. In my class anyway. During practice I was putting distance on the WRX on the straights, in my first lap ever, and the instructor was quite suprised... The WRX I beat in my last race was the 3rd place holder for the season!

I'm planning on getting a camera before next season starts!

Time trials definetly. I have watched the parking lot races before and it 's like just a slalom and some little turns, most likely can't even get into 3rd, probably better suited for go-carts IMO.

I think the RL would be good too because it seems like the more I beat the shit out of it,the better it responds. It likes to be driven hard as hell!

Just be forewarned, Time Attacks aren't held everywhere like the parking lot autocrosses are. For me to go to a Time Attack, I have to travel from Cleveland, Oh to Sp00ner's back yard. The tracks that are near me do not hold such an event.

I would try a "parking lot" race before you discount it. I find them to be much more intense and difficult than driving on a racetrack.
