The start of a new season is coming!!!

Well guys, Christmas is over, New Years is approaching, and we all know what that means!!!! Another year filled with the glorious smells of clutch, brakes, and tires. Where is everyone standing in their respective clubs, what is the goal for everyone (performance & mod-wise) before the start of the season?

Now that the TOG header is over, I just picked up the Stillen Rotors (front), and rears will be coming in a week or so. Gonna use a new set of stock pads for them. Some people complain about the dust, but the fade resistance of the stock pads is amazing to me.

Steel Brake Lines are another must have item for me.

Strut tower bar

Shocks would be KILLER!!!! I can't believe we still have no front shocks yet...

I'm trying to stay in the stock class until I take a first place finish in it... then I'll move on to the Prepared class. If I can wait to get the GM upgrades until then. That's gonna be hard...

I am just gonna play it by ear on mods at this point.

My plans are to get better and start beatin some of the Suberu's in my class. I need more work than the car at this point. I am really happy with the handling at this point. I will probably be doing the brake mods that Spoon mentioned and maybe stage one.

I wanna hit up Gingerman again and also run at Gratan, Mid ohio and also run a few more times at Waterford Hills this year.

I am gitty I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll probably make you guys jealous with all the different aftermarket stuff out for my SRT-4, but heres the setup I'll be running this year in the SCCA Central IL region for AutoX

IPP 36-way adjustable coilovers
AF/X Manufacturing front strut tower brace
P-Werks rear strut tower brace
ACR 19mm rear sway bar
Prothane total suspension bushing kit
Energy Suspension rear endlinks
Techna Fit Stainless Steel brake lines
Hawk HPS pads (not installed yet)
Centerline Storm's17”x7”
Hankook Ventus Z212 in 225/45/17

Last year I was basically a maxed out STU car, but I rarely get other cars in my class so I would always get bumped with SM and STS/STX. Took home a few wins in my first year and I'm looking to do the same this year only running in Street Modified with some more power.

I need some tires, that's the worst thing right now. The stockers aren't the best for racing... hehe...

As far as suspensio goes, we can pick up most of those things ya got. Not the shocks though... for some strange reason... I'm sure there are shocks that fit somewhere, just gotta do some investigating.

I'm sticking to non-point mods, which are a little different than what the SCCA allows/uses. I'm maxed out in point mods to stay in the stock class, but I didn't have new tires at the time. The stockers were SCREAMING on turns, it was hilarious.

I dunno how I missed this thread the first time (oh, yeah, out of town for that week), but I made a deal with one of my friends with a 13.4 sec lightning last november, that by the first weekend in march when the track season opens, will will each have taken a second off our times. that means he has to be a 12.4 and I have to be a 13.6

If I don't hit that goal the first weekend, it is going on the juice.

So far since the track closed, I have put on a new axleback exhaust, a 3.0 pulley, disable boost bypass, and put on a torque brace.

By the time the track opens, I will have a ebay header, a Mini AFC, a pair of 16" BFG DR's and maybe a new clutch.

Do we think that is enough?

.
A few ideas that we might want to check in the next few weeks/ months

1.Getting cobalt struts to work in the front
2.Ohlins: they make the shocks for the grand am cup cobalt and told me in an email they have the specs available
3.Confirm if there are similar suspension setups on the newer Saab 9-3's and Opels (astra, corsa)
4. i would hope that if the staged upgrades sell well, gm will release stiffer shocks and springs, who can we contact about this?

I hope to start getting involved in the local auto-x scene, come spring.

Also, a local track, Beaverun

has open lap days once or twice a month. $100 gets you a couple hours racing. Might wanna check that out, too
