Racing Harness

Anyone install one of these in a car with no roll cage? Any help would be great.

I'm more concerned with the rear mounts... not sure how that works totally... If the seat lets go, you have MUCH larger issues. No harness will help at that point.

Sp00ner,
let me go check my links for the autox harness the uses existing mounts and is EZ in and out so you do not have to have it hooked to the back if you do not want it. I'm gonna get one for the upcoming season (actually one for each seat) They really make a difference in the fact you do not have to concentrate on staying in the seat and it leaves more attention to the matter of driving.

Thanks Blu!

The guys there had something that attached to the rear seat mounts, and then was like a 'Y' shape that the shoulder belts attached to.

are you guys using them with the stock seats? I test fit a 4 pt. harness in a while ago with the stock seat and I had to run the shoulder belts between the metal brackets for the headrest. This made them rub bad on my neck so I said the hell with that for now and sold them with the seats. I had.

Or you could fabricate a rear strut tower bar that mounts above the rear shelf to attach them to.

first off... the point of a race harness or 4 point harness is to keep the person in the seat during hard turning as well as flip overs... now with that said.. the harness attachment to the floor is very important to the useage of the belts... the belts can not mearly be run down to the floor and bloted in... one you need to have some serious anchor bolts and two you can not mount them going just straight to the floor...

quick lesson in skeletal (sp?) structure... their are cartilage disks inbetween each bone in your spine... this help to make the spine flexable and bend.. now the cartialge is just like the stuff on your ears and nose.. it will bend and move but when it's compressed it hurts like a mother fvcker..

back to the harness setup... with that being said above if you take the belts and just put them over the back of the set and then put them right to the floor the angle at which the belt is holding you in will be all wrong.. if you were to get in an accident and the belts are connected like this when your upper body moves forward and the sholders take up all the slack in the belt the angle of your spine to the point where the belts is connected make a straight line which means all the foce is being put on your spince which in turn will cause you to rupture disks or even completely destroy some of the bones...to avoid this problem any real race harness is put over a bar which is normally right behind the seat and is then put into the floor... this changes the angle to which the belt supports you... this stoping the likely hood of you getting hurt by the belt..

now with that said where do you put a bar behind your seat to have the harness go over it.. you can't put it to the b-pillars since they are part of the door.. and if you put a cage in the car it's not only gunna allow you to not have back seats anymore but it's also illegal and not safe to drive with in the car on roads.. so basicly if you really want harnesses wait for the sub frame connectors coming out soon(posted on the forums) he said they will have a stage 2 which has a peice that will go behind the seat and bolt thru the floor to the frame connectors this will have a bar which will allow you to properly mount your harness

so basicly right now if you put a harness in you can do it the wrong way and mabey be ok or wait and do it the right way and make sure you don't mess yourself up
