FOR SALE: Saturn Sky Polished Wheels - Seattle/Tacoma/Portland or I can ship

Well I bit the bullet and bought a set of the Sky wheels, but they aren't going to work on my Cobalt without spacers and I don't really want to spend the extra $350 on spacers to make it work, so I'm just going to sell them. I'm just looking to get what I paid for them. There is a listing on craigslist for them:

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/402035771.html

$550 OBO - Will take money orders, Paypal or Google Checkout (you can use your credit card through Google).

I can ship anywhere in the lower 48 states for $650 shipped.

I drive down to Portland pretty often for work, so I can deliver from Seattle to Portland for free.

Here are some pics, I have higher res versions if anyone is interested.

I told you. Did you measure to see how much more room you would need?

Yeah a 0.5" spacer would do the trick. Eibach and H&R both make the good spacers that would work with our bolt pattern and hub.

Did you actually get the tires mounted on the wheels? If so what size tires did you use? Did you take pics of the installed wheels?

Sorry I lost track of your thread on the shortbus.

No I never bothered because I could tell they wouldn't fit with the tires mounted. The tire would have rubbed up against the strut tower.

hmmm. You might have an easier time selling the wheels if people knew exactly what they were getting themselves into. I have a feeling that a 15mm wheel spacer might not be enough.

If you have the time you should get some washers and place them in-between the wheel and the hub. Keep adding washers until you have enough clearance from the strut tower. Take some pics and measure the washers.

Then let the rest of us know.

as ive said many many times. SKY RIMS WONT WORK ON THE RL/SHORTBUSS

nobody listens...

you need at LEAST a 10mm spacer. 8" wide rim with a +40mm offset is equivalent to a 7" wide rim with a +50mm offset...

I did do that with washers. They were 1/8" thick and I placed 4 of them on each stud and they clereance was good. I almost ordered the spacers, I really wanted to get the wheels on my car... I am certain a 15mm spacer would work with these wheels.

Sky wheels have a 55mm offset.

According to my calculations.

The RL stock wheel and tire combo has the follow offset.

215/2 + 38 = 145.5mm

Meaning at the widest part of the tire the inner edge of the tire is 145.5mm away from where the wheel meets the wheel hub.

Now just looking at the sky wheel itself the numbers come out like this.

8" = 203.2mm

203.2/2 + 55 = 156.6mm

So just the sky wheel itself "sticks in" to the vehicle 11.1mm more then the stock wheel and tire.

Now add a 215 wide tire to the sky wheel.

215/2 + 55 = 162.5mm

Comparison to stock.

Stock Wheel + Tire------145.5
Sky Wheel + 215 Tire----162.5

162.5 - 145.5 = 17mm

Using my math (could be wrong) even a 15mm spacer wouldn't return that setup to the stock location. But I am sure that there is more then 2mm space between the stock tire and strut tower. So a 15mm spacer would probably be the absolute smallest size you could go.

^^^^That does not take steering into consideration. You still have to turn the wheels left and right

It would be nice to put this mystery to rest now that a LSJ owner has them setting in his garage.

Oh so that is where you came up with the 1/2".

1/2" = 12.7mm.

Thanks for the info.
