Did you check the dealer? Often times some small parts might be inexpensive from the dealer, just say "yeah, this is so-n-so from [insert shop or dealer name]and I wanted to check availability and price on part# _ _ _ _" then they'll say $blah blah$ amount, and I can have it here mon-tues... Then you repeat his price back and say"...ok, and what's my price" Then u get the shop discount price. After they order it, tell them it'll be COD and you'll pick it up.... works for me all the time, they never will check to see if you really work at so said dealer/shop. Or just get your tech buddy to pick one up.

The evap solenoid controls the vent on the fuel tank/system. Its designed to keep positive vacuum on the gas tank, so it can't let gas fumes out. Non-critical at all.
