MIkey, we are running our customer cars , it rained here at the track (tremblant) big car Z06 finished p2 on pirelli rains, lapped the Viper ; in Mosport it rained too but race was dry, big car Z06 rookie on Michelin slicks had a tough day, went to the race abs cal (no active handling comp mode or t/c) and rookie discovered that big car had been saving his ass all this time...several spins, 10, 5, 2 (tire wall visit, no Khumos there) so #1 son gets to fix the car (done for the w/e) but up north me and Kiwi stull have our running tomorrow...

Blue Hot Rod doooood! I had some experience with a set of BFGs not long ago...16" was all that were made available. I have several sets of 16" wheels so I say what the heck, let's give it a try... (the Kumho gang didn't have a suitable 17" tire for us until last year, so for quite some time I had been running 16" stuff) anyway...the BFG was very nice... Crisp turn-in, forgiving in the mid-corner and great forward bite off. We saw unforgiveable wear at outside edge... with some blistering... But it was good tire... With more time and testing we could have made 'em work well. I like the 17 Kumho's - they fit nice on the 17x7 wheels. So far have shown to be durable and pretty quick... I've been pleased with 17" performance. As you know, SCCA took our overdriven pulley and aftercooler. Making speed has been challenging, and the Honda S2000s are now the class of T3 class in SCCA. I've been keeping up, and getting lucky with decent finishes. But still not making the speed of the Hondas.... Haven't been on the Michelins - I hear they are dynamite skins... Sorry to hear of the Mosport shunt...yer #1 son is good kid, he'll get that hot rod up and running in short order. I've heard of many SCCAT1 guys having issues with ABS. Different from yer guy, That ABS and comp mode does wonders on that Corvette. Why don't you guys run with cal that provides forgiveness? Okay blue doood - have fun up North...be fast...be safe! I'll talk atcha later...

You Reckon right!!

These tires hold good.

Only other R-comp I have been on are unshaven Victo's, Hero's in the rain..a little grainy in the dry.

I will get two more good days of tests on the V710's next weekend at Waterford!

If your new to racing would it be good to start off with r-comps or stick with street tires for a bit?

I'd say it depends upon you and what you want to get out of racing. If you're into cruising and occasionally lighting up your tires...you might wanna stick with what's on the car right now - street skins. You'll tear 'em up eventually, but not all at once...If you run the occasional autocross, you might be okay too with your street rubber...but...if you want to go faster and save your street tires for all-seasonal wear and grocery-gettin' then I'd say get a spare set of wheels, mount up some R-comps and when you head over to your local autocross - slap the sticky slicks on, lower the tire pressures and smoke the skins and the competition...put your street tires back on for the ride to your local beer joint or hangout to tell your buddies about the Porsche ya' just beat on time...

For me, no matter how ya' look at it...you need a spare set of skins, even if your just "messin' 'round'racin'" Your gonna need your treaded tires to get home on... I believe God is a race fan, He'll make it rain on your race activities every once in a while, but He likes seeing men go fast...and you can only do that in the dry...but the ride home isn't racing...He might make it rain on your parade...that's why ya' need those street tires good and ready...for the ride home! HAHAHA!

Just my $.02 which seems to be worth less than that each successive day!

Whatever ya' do...have fun at it. The car is more than capable...have a blast and run it hard!

Blue Hot Rod dooooood! If nothing changes, I'll be heading up to western Pennsylvania near the end of August. If I've got a set left, I'll drag them up there and get them over to yer man in NY. Anyway... hope yer good! Our little Red Line race team had two good runs at Roebling Road - a win in a drizzling rain and peaking sunshine on Saturday (yep - you guessed it - on a smooth set of V710s) and a stout second-place run in the infamous south Georgia heat on Sunday. I was grinning all the way home. The hot rod was quick on both days just a tick slower than the S2000s, but racey and handled well. I was pleased - I think you woulda been too!

I'll talk atcha later.
