if your looking for a center gauge pod that goes on top of the steering column then it does matter. the ion and cobalt are completely different unless you modify it to fit. maybe try an A pillar gauge pod they have them on the zzp website

I was going to suggest New South Performance as an alternative to stock, but it looks like they only make it for the Ion.
