I wouldnt mind trying this I have an extra transmission just sitting there. I think it would be cool to have a 6 speed with a LSD but I just dont have the money and cant justify the amount it cost for the extra gear. if some one can really sell me on the idea then I may consider trying this in the VERY near future.

Well, sounds like they are willing to work with us, anyway.
Anyone find out if there will be any issues working with the 08+ transmissions? I haven't found out for certain what changes were made other than the final drive ratio.
Do you know what would have to be swaped out between an 06 and an 08 tranny to get the 08 final drive ratio? I am seriously thinking about sending my trany in for a rebuild and 6 speed upgrade but also thinking about putting the 08 final drive into my 06

I might sell you on the idea of parting with that tranny in the near future.
lol.
but yeah when my car is in the shop when I get the new motor, I just may send the trans out to have em do it. wonder what the total price would be with installation.

My understanding is that you'd only need to swap out the final drive gears. Thus, we should have avaible final drive ratios of:
4.04
4.45 (only was available on Saturn L200)
3.82
But, I don't know the part numbers needed.

Call the dealership or someone get a service manual.
Since the SS/TC is not out yet I don't think you will be able to get a part number. I am wondering if it would be cheepter to just buy a new Trany and send it to Quafi for the refit then have to have the dealer install the final drive then have Quafi do the refit

Regardless, it would be cheaper to have the final drive installed at the same time as the conversion kit. This is a front wheel drive (transverse) mount transmission, the entire transmission must be disassembled and reassembled for either (and/or the LSD).
The parts numbers are being release for the new transmissions in the Cobalt SS Turbo shortly. It has been indentified that the clutch housing has been updated but the rest of the case appears the same as older models.

Well let me put this to you Shabodah. I learned to drive on this tranny so I got a lot of wheel hop and missed shifted a lot. Without tarring apart the tranny how can I tell if I have damaged anything inside that would not be replaced by the new gears from Quafi? Also what does the cluch housing update do for us, make the tranny stronger?
To Dezod, could you check with Quafi to see if there willing to do a final gear swap at the same time as there 6-speed?
