One Last time with the wrx

Well I took the WRX to the track for my third time. I have not done any mods to it from the first time i ran it till this last time. I guess its just a matter of practice makes perfect. All runs were done at the same track, one was done in the spring one in the summer and now one in the fall. Here was my best run for today.

60' - 1.866
330 - 5.665
1/8 - 8.814@79.99mph
1000 - 11.436
1/4 - 13.680@100.46mph

I was happy with my runs, my only power mods are a reflashed ECU and a full exhaust with one cat still in place. The first time i went to the track i ran a 14.3 the second time i ran a 13.9 and now a 13.6, there is nothing more important then practice. The car has a little more in it, it was not a flawless run, i could see it running 13.4s with a perfect run.

Thank you for the congrats, the weather is really good for the wrx, traction isn't much of an issue the turbo was loving the cool air, it must be hard to get traction in a front wheel drive car in this cold weather?

Tis not easy, but I've got my all-season Falken Zeix 512's back on the car now and they've got alot more grip in a straight line than the Azenis do when its cold. If it's too cold, you're just SOL though...

13.x for now... my 103.7 trap is good for more, but that's step one. I know the car as a 13.5 in it, since all the damn cars that I tune car run it... I would be real happy to leave the track with a 13.8 for this season. This would be trip #3 to a legal strip for me in my lifetime.

There's a good chance that I will miss my first road race or two next year to get some real time at the drag strip....

I hope you get your time, its so nice when you don't even mod your car but your times improve, its a learning process from one car to another, for someone to race a car for the first time and get the best time in it is very unlikely, i gained 7/10ths in just practice alone. Your trap is very impressive, i wish you the best of luck, let us know how you run when you run it.

I think the biggest difference was the colder air. You trapped higher MPH relative to the drop in 1/4 mile time.

Yes the colder air def a big factor (50 degrees), but in the spring i ran a 14.3@99.66mph but that was with much worse 60-foots, my 1.866 compared to a 1.98 or so when i ran my 13.9 probably gave me 2/10ths in the 1/4 the cooler temp probably gave me another 1/10th.
