For like 16K you can't beat it. I'll take a redline and the extra five grand over a Neon SRT-4 any day.

I like to differ, i'll take 434whp/439wtq anyday in the SRT-4

don't get me wrong the redline is cool and so is the cobalt, but seeing the engine build up plans for 400+whp...doesn't seem to promising on those internals.

SRT-4 :bolt ons and get 400-550whp on stock internals.

We will have to see about the Ecotec since it's early in the game for the boosted motors.

doubtful.

Like I said, I was on the brakes pretty hard. That should have been about a 14.1 to a 14.0XX @ 102 - 103............ But shoulda, woulda, coulda, but I didn't.
What is bracket racing? And what is 'breaking out'?

Sorry for the retarded question...

ok, here is a simple explaination of it.

I dialed a 14.2. That means that it will take me 14.2 seconds to make it from the start to the finish.
I line up against a guy that dials a 16.2. That means that it will take him 16.2 seconds to make it from the start to the finish.

To make the race even they start the slow guy 2 seconds early. So I have to wait at the tree for two seconds before my lights go off.

The point is that we will cross the finish line at the same time. Bracket racing isn't about who has the fastest car. It is about who can get down he track in the amount of time that they say they can. It is a poor mans drag racing, because not everybody has enough money to make there car fast enough to go heads-up racing. So, if I say that I will run a 14.2 than my objective is to run a 14.2, not quicker and not slower but that specific time. If I run under my time, as in run a 14.1 or quicker than I broke out. And I lose unless the other person brakes out by more.

Didn't they used to do that back in the day, to make 'classes'? If you ran too fast, you had to move up to the next class? Or is that something that they still do, and is different?

But dont forget, it's still all about who crosses the finish line first (and doesnt break out).I love to watch quicker cars with "high dial-ins" lose the race with brake lights a glaring by to slower car that was dialed-in "on the nose" and wins under full power.
