Some Pretty Nice "almost" stock WRX times

I know this isn't a wrx forum, but i figure you guys are car guys, and you do ask about the wrx from time to time. These are some of the better "almost" stock wrx times i have seen. By the way a catback does nothing for a wrx, what really helps out the wrx is getting rid of the 3 cats it comes with.

R/T=.437
60'=1.959
1/8=9.070
MPH=76.34
1/4=14.287
MPH 94.11

I have an 04 WRX with only a Helix catback! I'm so happy! Previous best was 14.44 with a 2.07 60'. I had never broke a 2.07 60'. Can't wait to run again thursday and try to best that!!

here is another one

same deal he still has the cats, just took off the catback, also removing the intake silencer is a zero hp mod and the air hog is supposed to hurt the wrx.

14.160@96.011
90 degree weather
airhog, removed silencer, and removed stock catback exhaust (stock DPs in place)

Airhog? Like the Fram filter?

You ever do any track racing with that puppy? Nice times. I have no idea what my Redline does the 1/4 mile in...

The guy I was racing with just put in a full catless-turbo-back on, and had to put some resistor in the socket for one of the O2 sensors? It was up front, under the hood, passenger's side, right near the fender. Make sense?

Anyway, he was telling me about the three cats too. WTF? One for each head and then one for the exhaust pipes themselves?

Yeah the 3 cats suck, one is a pre-turbo cat, its located before the turbo and is for the emissions during startup only, the other two cats are in the downpipe and midpipe. The reason for the 3 cats is so they can get the ultra low emissions rating. As for the o2 sensor i did hear something about it throwing a cell, i forget what exactly it does but if you remove the cats you can just get rid of the o2 sensor in the up pipe, and to clear the CEL you can get an accessport or something that can clear your ECU of all CELs. Oh and by the way those aren't times i did with my car, they are other people from the www.clubwrx.net board. I haven't done track times yet, i am going to wait till next spring when i can get myself a set of nice tires, the ones on the wrx are well.....useless. And yes the airhog i some filter thing.

Those are some pretty decent 60' times. Are you on stock tires?

those aren't my times, but you can get those times on stock tires, even with the crappy stock tires getting your 60 foot times below 2.0 is not uncommon.

basically what he was doing with the resistor was home making a MIL eliminator.

If cat-backs don't help you guys at all, why buy them?

I know because on my old DSM AWD when I got a 3" setup. My boost pressure was raised by 1-2 psi and it use to spike like crazy hence helping me get faster

I just dont like when people list there mods and then go " but that one dosn't do anything", well why bother then? There had to be a reason for it.
