Now you can get your tuner ready made car

"MarketPlace" on NPR did a story about how Toyota, Honda, and Mazda are making Tuner-ready cars for younger buyers.

Has anyone ever heard of this before? (with a sprinkle of sarcasm since it doesn't translate well over the internet.)

Anyways, during the story, they drive around in an Acura RSX Type S Bla Bla Blah and the exhaust note is quite prominent.

You can listen to the story here:

Weak, just body kits and wings. Sounds like the Celica with the "Performance Package" which is a body kit and wing.

Exactly, I want to send Kai Ryssdal (the host of MarketPlace) an email and tell him I listen to his show every day at lunch in my GM Tuner-ready car: The Saturn ION Red Line.

Scion was supposed to be Toyota's answer to tuners.

When they first started advertising them, they made it sound like they were infinitely cutomizable. So I checked them out. They offer a couple customizable things like different color shifter knobs. Woohoo.

The only true tuner cars cost well over what anyone on these forums can afford. Real tuner cars are made by guys like foose, hennessey, and lingenfelter! Not the crappy rice rockets that toyota, honda, and scion try to push. Now the Redline was a good start but Gm just sort of abandoned us!

tuner cars = cars you can customize. Usually cars that are stock just having a good foundation to start out with.

Lingenfelter cars = cars that are built for you already that need little to no more customization needed anymore..

You sir...

Don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

I dont know what your version of a tuner car is. To me your saying that a real tuner car cant be built on a budget for a reasonable price and the only people who can do it are guys like foose, lingenfelter Ect. It seems to me that the people you mention in you post, are known for building to race/show cars. They're also men, who have achived legendary status in the automotive world. Why cant in your words a "real tuner car" be a: toyota, honda, scion Ect. Just curious.
