Ion Red Line racing at Gateway (St. Louis)5/7

Mike Kramer of Thundersport Racing will be racing his '04 Ion Red Line in the SCCA National race at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, IL - just across the river from St. Louis, MO - on Sunday afternoon.

His qualifying session should be around 8:30, and the race around 1 PM (times subject to change).

If you are in the St. Louis area, be sure to come out and support a true Saturn race team.

No. The only SCCA Club Racing event that is covered is the Runoffs.

I missed the race but maybe you can get a cruise going someday or a get together at creve coeur park.

And what a race it was! I was working in turn 7 today, so I could see the entire track from the apex of 2 to the start/finish straight. According to Carol, Mike got a great start - went to the lead of the class before turn 1, and led a 28 lap dogfight - The RX-8 didn't give him an inch.

But in the end, Mike brought it home for a National Class win, blistered right front tire and all.

Not Really - Mike didn't let me know he was coming, so I wasn't able to post until the night before. I'm not sure anyone came out to see him. It's hard to say how big the crowd is - most folks there are either crew or friends of drivers. From where I was standing, there were probably 100 or so people watching the races, but I was at the far side of the track.
