How Much Oil?

how much oil does a 05 RL take?

damn thats alot of oil look like i gotta go and buy 2 more quarts the dealer told me i need 5 quarts

That's scary - the dealer was looking in the wrong book! Right in your manual, under specifications and capacities, it shows 6.75 quarts. I don't know about anyone else, but after putting in 6.75 quarts, running the car, and rechecking, it's still a little low...mine has needed closer to 7 quarts.

Mine went the other way, I only need a little over 6. I think Jim let his drain better, or maybe mine wasn't quite level when it was draining or something. I put in about a 1/4 of the 7th bottle, and I was a little bit over.

I did the oil change on a slight incline, but then drove it and parked it level and rechecked and had to add - weird.

I've changed my oil 4 times now, and after the first time, I just started dropping in 7 quarts. Hits right on the full mark.
