VolksWagen GTI fire sale in NY?

OMG! There has to be some kind of super incentive program going on in western NY with Volkswagen! I have had 6 Volkswagen GTI's (all different cars) try and race me from stoplights to being on the E-way in the last two days! everyone of of them with at least two "kids" who looked about 12 years old driving! lol is it "free GTI" in the Buffalo area on your 16th B-day? I am NOTcomplaining lol I just find it a bit curious

and before you ask of course I ran them....who wouldn't?

I'm pretty sure the redline won, i have not seen that many gtis mostly new jettas.

GTi is overweight, underpowered, overpriced, and too expensive to maintain and insure.

The Redline is faster, easier to mod, cheaper to buy and cheaper to own.

The GTi has a much nicer interior.

im going to disagree w/ easier to mod ..

gti's = chip i/h/e = good powr to start off with ... we dont have a chip yet >.< hp tuners isnt really avail yet, still ppl trying shit out with it.

I have yet to hear of a chip for the VW direct injection motor yet. Even if there is one, they're starting with a 300 lb weight disadvantage, and no factory available LSD.

Stage 1 = as good as any chip mod, lol. Stage 2 = even more juice. And we have I/H/E available as well. So.... You were saying?
IRL + competition package = $22k brand new full sticker, plus $2500 for I/H/E and Stage 2, = nearly 300 (or more) crank hp for under $25k.

GTi = $23,500 BASE PRICE, no LSD available, 300 more lbs. I/H/E + chip = $2500 AT LEAST, and 300 crank if they're lucky. roughly the same (or less) power in a heavier car without LSD for 2 or 3 grand more.

The Findlay group I work for has Saturn, Honda, and VW in our group. I;ve driven the RL a lot (plus worked for Saturn of Salt Lake group for a longish time), driven the GTi and the new Si. GTi and Si = nice cars, IRL whps 'em both bang for the buck and cost of ownership, though.
