Dynoed stock 06 S/C SS today

I just picked up my 06 cobalt s/c ss today and threw it on the dyno (Dynojet) to see what it had , it put down 203 whp and 182 wtq . It ran pretty rich also , only 40 miles on it ! I will be tuning it with hptuners very soon as well , I think there is definitely some room for improvement even being stock . Anyonelse tune a stock ss on the dyno and get some pretty good gains ???

40 miles, wow the balls on you. I think you should have waited till 1k or 2k, one because you should have broke it in first and two because Ive heard that the LSJ gets better with age like a fine wine. A lot of people claim that their booost raised from around 10 to 12.5 after a few K. Dont quote me on that, but thats what Ive heard, im sure someone here will clarify. nice numbers btw!

yeah I would agree. I would have probably waited longer than 40 miles to dyno the thing.

Congrats on your purchase.

It might pick up another 10 hp, over the next couple hundred miles, but 'eh... I like the idea, drive it from the dealer to the dyno, no waiting....

I have done testing on cars before , and get on them pretty hard when they are fresh and you will put out more power sooner and in the long run , trust me . You just need to put about 30-40 miles on it first of routine driving , and you are good to go . Yes , I do have balls ! Thanks guys , I know there will be even more power available after some tuning . Just thought there probably weren't too many people that did that so I figured I would put up the results .

Thats sounds good and all, I know my SRT "break-in" period is like 250 miles. But I say you should have waited based on your numbers, you are in the lower bracket of stock dynos. bah what do i know.

When you have a motor built according to any major performance engine builder they will tell you about 30 miles (or minutes) of regular driving before you really get on it good . I have followed this philosophy amongst others saying very similar things and everything in my cars has always seemed to work out with my cars putting a little more power than others with my set up . If I could show you a dyno graph with it stock again in a few thousand miles , maybe you will believe me . But , that just is not going to happen because it is going to get modified immediately a little at a time . And I will do my best to try and dyno each mod so you guys can see what your money is getting you , but this thing is in desparate need of a tune in stock form from the data I gathered today .

I dont doubt you, but every engine for the most part is different and its very common for the LSJ to build more power after approx a few thousand miles. I know my redline was faster at 5000 miles than it was at 1000 miles. I am just saying this from what others have experienced with the LSJ. but good luck with your mods and yes keep us informed its always good to see a piece by piece build with dyno results.

Doubting me is fine and I understand . I have done this before and dynoing a car is just reving it up high so whatever . I do agree with you about a vehicle being faster and making more power after it is broken in for sure , break it in harder and faster and you will net a similar result but maybe sooner and a bit more as an end result (pending what you are breaking in) . I will be also heading down to the track on Wednesday to see what she runs , I just like to have some fun and see what happens ( I don't mind taking chances with my own car) . I definitely think there is some power left on the table as the afr went to 10:1 in the run . I would like to dial it in to around 11.8:1 , so back to my first question , how much power is on the table here ? ANd , I have done a ton of tuning with ls1/ls2's with hptuners software , and I am not sure if it is the same . Do you mainly adjust the PE table to dial in WOT afr on a stock application or is it more involved than this ? Also , I can figure out how to get rid of torque management , but , for timing , the timing tables had dips in the run about every 1200 rpms , is ther something special you have to do to adjust this or do I just have to alter high and low octane tables ?

Oh , and about the boost level , it runs 12 psi on the street and 11 psi on the dyno . (1 psi loss due to load most likely) .

Ive never used Hp Tuners, but have heard great things, Sp00ner has a really good grip on whats going with the LSJ and HPtuners. Im sure he will chime in for ya in a few. Also in case you didnt know the cobalt forums are another great source of info
