Buying a Limited Slip Differential

It has come time to look at buying a RL and the only option I have is an 07 or getting an 06 with out the comp package. I remember a thread on here a while back about buying a Limited Slip Differential to put in to the Red Line. Does anyone know the GM part number for the Limited Slip or can someone point me to that thread so I can have a better idea if I should add a Limited Slip to the 06 or just go with an 07.

i'm confused why is that your only 2 options???? why not an 06 with comp package???

get the '06 w/ LSD, other wise itll cost you over $3K to get one installed, thats IF you could find somone to tear that tranny apart.
Plus, you could prolly get a better deal on the '06.
The '07's dont have the Recaros, according to a previous post.

Keep looking. There are more options out there. Try using an online search. There are more RL out there. Go to a dealership and tell them you want to buy one. They will do whatever they can to get you into the car you want. Where are you located?

I agree with you guys, that's why I'm trying to figure this 2 option thing out. Aftermarket LSD is going to cost you an arm and a leg.

You can find the aftermarket LSD for $1500 or so...all labor after than, and I don't know about you, but I'm not paying someone $1500 in labor. I'm thinking half that is reasonable.

That would make your "Aftermarket LSD" about $2250 or so. (yes, I did some shopping...some day, maybe)

you'd almost be better off grenading the tranny, and just getting that new tranny with the LSD installed, that way you could do the install, save the labor.

Now THAT's an interesting proposal, but how pricey would THAT be...who sells the whole tranny?
