'07 Vue Hybrid "Greenline"

Anyone know what the towing capacity, if any, is on this baby? I've found 170 hp and 162 tq, but nothing specifically referencing towing. I've never owned a truck or anything, so I dunno what I'm looking for.

All I know is the g-f wants a RL Vue when we to FL, and I'm thinking having something to tow a trailer and MY IRL to the track might be a cool little thing. IF we could get a Greenline AND use it to tow the RL on a trailer, I think I'd be sold INSTANTLY on one of these babies.

i could be completely wrong b/c i dont know shit about trucks/towing. but if i was planning on towing anything, especially a car trailer, i prob wouldnt be looking into a hybrid suv. when you look at the hp & tq it seems like you would be better off pulling the vue with the RL .

has anybody put a trailer hitch on thier IRL? just wondering.

That's why I'm asking - I dunno the first thing about towing...I would NEVER tow with my RL though, couldn't bare to put my baby through that

To add some info...I found something on Saturn's site regarding towing (pertaining to the REGULAR) Vues...they say towing capaciy on the V6 is 3500lbs and on the 4 cyl. it's 1500 lbs (no towing the RL )
In comparison, the four cyl makes 143 / 152, the V6 makes 250 / 242, and likes I said before, the Greenline will make 170 / 162.

With those numbers, and not knowing much, I'm guessing towing capacity will be right around the same for the GL as the standard 4cyl (maybe 500 lbs more) so my only option would be the V6 (if I want to tow the RL @ 2800 lbs PLUS the trailer)

I wouldn't tow a car trailer with a VUE, period. Hybrid Silverado for that. You'll thank me in the long run if you do tow the car. With the work involved, you are better off with more torque and a full frame. Gas mileage while towing would probably be better with the Silverado, even if it's better when not towing with the view. And better yet, get a brake controller installed.

I'm real interested why it's so low. A properly setup electric motor makes FAR more torque than a gas motor. You'll never see HUGE gas motors that move things, it's always a gas motor, that charges batteries. ALL large ships and construction equipment use electric for it's FAR superior torque output, and ALL torque on an electric motor is available at ALL times.

I guess it's just not setup for towing or heavy moving yet...

I have no doubt that an electric motor can be great for towing. It's just that the one in the GL is not big enough for real towing and the platform is very poor for towing anyway. There are some awesome electric motors out there and they do very well if properly suited to their application.

The only time the VUE hybrid engine is running is when it's at a complete stop or deaccelerating. Other than that, the 2.4L is the source of power.

hey MGM you can't tow with a VUE Redline because of how the rear bumpber is.

When it's stopped?

Shouldn't it be the motor that gets it moving, for stop and go traffic for instance? What sense would it make if the electric motor only comes on when it's not needed? It should act as either an electric turbo, or the main propulsion when the car is at low load and speeds. Like all the other hybrids...
