New Redline Owner! (With a question)

Hey all - I just purchased a brand spanking new 06 redline (black with: competition package, sunroof, adv.audio, etc, etc, etc). I'll post pictures of my car sometime when i get a hold of a camera.

Question: Ive got an old fosgate amp + sub ive been hauling between the other cars ive owned - is it easy to hookup an amp + sub to the factory stereo? Any tips or tricks out there?)

Glad to be a part of the group!

Yes, its just like any other car. Even easier though because the battery is in the trunk. You will begin to love that added bonus.

Welcome, Yes the battery is in the truck and makes it much easer to hook up. You just need to run the trigger wire back there. I just used a converter off the rear speakers to rca's and hooked it right in.
Heres some pics. Injoy

where should i start with this? i havent taken a close look at the internals yet so bare with me....

it is at easy as removing the radio and routing a wire to the trunk? I guess my question is: how easy is it to get to the back of the radio? (and where is the cleanest place to route cables to the trunk)?

Thanks much

i used the stock radio ( to keep OnStar). but take out the back seats. (very easy) take the door still and kick plate out of the way. Pull back carpit and run the wires with the rest of them. Its alot easier with the seat out. I did this on the passenger side.

I'm not sure about 06 but you don't have to remove the radio on 04/05. There is a green connector in the passenger side kick panel that has the remote on signal as well as all the speaker leads. The kick panel is part of the trim you will have to take off anyway to run wires to the back. The amp remote is the pink wire IIRC. If you have advanced audio that wire continues to the amp in back. Otherwise, it just stops on one side of the connector. Haven't heard form any 06 owners though to know for sure if its the same.

Caution - if you have side air bags I'd definitely check schematics before probing around.

You have the advanced audio system. You dont have to do any of this. The amp is mounted to the rear deck in the trunk. Get the remote turn on signal from the wiring that goes into the amp. Get a two dollar probe from a local store to figure out wich one switches on and off with the ignition. It took me about five minutes to figure out wich wire it was and tap into it for the turn on lead.

awesome - looks like ill have a project over this weekend.

Also: Has anyone found a reliable ipod power adapter for the car? I've got Rockbox loaded on the IPod which will allow me to play high quality FLACs in the car (which should provide me with endless quality music bumping experiences provided the battery on the darn ipod doesnt die quick).
