Bike, good learner or not.

i finally found a bike for sale,

SUZUKI 1994 750GSX Katana. Blue, dual disc breaks, rebuilt carbs, low miles. Very fast! $2100

so its in my price range for my first bike.
Only thing is ya all think thats to much for a bike that old?
Good learning bike?

I just got my bike permit last week, and i was thinking about selling my celica, but at this price i can aford to keep the cars and buy a bike, i just dont want to over pay ya know

Um..actually the Katana's are great learner bikes..even the older 750's.. You guys are thinking a big engine means big power and it doesn't. That year of the 750 made roughly 100 rwhp (when they were new..and lucky to do that..) figure in the years and everything if it hasn't been completely maintained I'm betting it would be down in the high 80's to 90's range, plus the thing is HEAVY. It's not all that quick and should be pretty tame..

i do plan to take the star class, i just want to get a bike first so i know ill be riding,
I took the written test last friday and passed,
Got the permit, witch is good for 6 months and in that time if i take and pass the course i get my license free(just have to pay for course)

So i want to get a little bit of ridding in befor the class that way i know a little about my own bike first.

Most of the classes do not use anything bigger than a 500cc bike..some even as small as 150cc bikes.. I actually took one when I got my license to ride on the street mainly for the insurance discount. It was kind of funny when I rode there on a R6 and then hopped on their little 250..felt like a toy.

Gratz! I was going to get a Harley, but got the IRL instead. I'm saving up to buy a bike cash and driving the IRL once or twice a week. Hopefully by the fall will be getting a used 750 or the like.
