WTF is it?

I don't know if I am just noticing them more or if they have been around for a while and for that matter I ahve no idea what it is or what it is for.
I have been seeing tuned cars, not just rice, with some sort of a bar coming from the back. Directly center coming from under the rear bumper. Comes out about 10" with a slight bend upwards about 3/4 of the way down. has a hoop at the end. It looks to be maybe billet and I have seen different colors. They appear to have some sort of writing on them, but I have not been able to get a good look while on the road.
Who can shed some light? Are these a new thing? Are they just some fancy tow hoop?
WTF are they and WTF are they for?

i've seen the tow hoops to one side... not in center.

for that reason, i'm thinking rear sway

this thread is usless without pics!...lol j/k (not really)
most tow hoops have to be painted red, as per NHRA rule #5934583.49 (i dont really know the rule #). Every tow hoop on a real race car ive seen is small and painted red.
I have yet to see a tow hoop on a rice car (thats not the factory one)...

...could it be a wheelie bar?

i think we're talking about transport/tow hoops... not race car tow hoops... my 97 sc1 had one that protruded from the opposite side of the muffler.

however since he mentioned tuned cars, my money's on the rear sway. some of the ones that u can get are pretty much polished metal - which reflects a ton if you're behind them w/ your lights on and they don't have a body kit

I snapped a shot with my phone on the road yesterday, but you can't make anything out. I can't find it anywhere on the net. I am sure I will see another soon.

Go on the SRT forums... I think I saw some of the CSC guys talking about this as well...

Does it LOOK like a wheelie bar almost? Like it could be used to force teh front end of the car down?
